Hall of Fame induction: Remembering 'The Intimidator'

What do you remember about Dale Earnhardt? He is the one that everyone watched out for every single week he was the one that Richard Childress gave up his seat in his car to let Dale Earnhardt drive for him. He has done alot for this sport and ever since his death his i think alot of changes have been made as far as safeness in this sport and keeping the drivers as well as the fans safe. We don't need to have another tragic death happen as we witnessed on the day that Dale Earnhardt died on feb 18, 2001! The greatest moment in history was when Dale Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 in 1998 and when every crew member from every team lined up down pit road awaiting dale earnhardt and slapping him in the hand and congradulating him on winning the biggest race of the year. A moment like that will never happen again and i think that with the 76 wins and his 7 championships and all that he has accomplished and set in this sport, that Dale Earnhardt should be apart of this inaugural class and should be remembered not only has a father, a son, a great family man but someone who has changed the sport of NASCAR and for someone who put a big staple in this sport and will always be remembered for what he has done in his life & racing career. 'Continue The Legend' We love & Miss you Dale!

The Importance of a NUMBER in......SPORTS!

When Jackie Robinson died MLB retired the number so no one would be allowed to have it, the signifigance of that number in baseball history was that Jackie Robinson changed the face of baseball forever. So you would think that it would only be fair to just retire the number rather than let players/teams have the option to use it. So as we move on to another sport we like to call NASCAR we are reminded of another face that altered the sport. A driver we all know as Dale Earnhardt. Dale changed the sport of NASCAR and paved the way for other such talents such as Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, etc. So you would think on the day that we lost a legend, the intimidator that it would only be fitting that the number that he made famous and drove to 7 championships would be retired. But nooo. Now i know that NASCAR owns the numbers and that they hand out the numbers to each team but don't you think that the #3 should be laid to rest and be retired? No one should ever drive that car or that #3 even if your last name is Earnhardt cause your not really good enough to take on that responsibility, your not Dale Earnhardt and no one ever will be. So please if you like and respect our legends, the greats of NASCAR you should consider taking those FAMOUS numbers like the 3, 43 etc...from the drivers who have driven the cars with those numbers and have retired, to the drivers who we have lost driving with those numbers. Like Jackie Robinson, Dale Earnhardt has done so much for the sport of NASCAR from his 7 titles to all that he had accomplished in his racing career, i think it's only fitting that the banner be lifted and that the #3 be retired from racing FOREVER....Cause no one will ever be like Dale Earnhardt!
