A Dark Day 10 Years Ago...

Everyone remembers the day that changed the sport of NASCAR forever....the day we lost Dale Earnhardt. Whether you were in the grandstands that day or viewing it from your couch we all remember the crash on the last lap of the 2001 daytona 500. As we stood up in utter shock of what just happened we were taken back to all the times that he wrecked that were far more deadly then this one but when Ken Schrader got out of his car and walked over to Dale's car and took his window net down and took one look and stepped back we all knew that Dale was gone. How could someone that had one 7 championships and countless amounts of races and been a fixture in this sport die? As we get ready to mark the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt's passing we don't look back on that the day he died but what he has done for this sport and all the lives he has touched. He should be remembered for what he has done in this sport and all the changes that were made to make it safer after he died. Dale Earnhardt paved the way for many drivers like Jimmie Johnson & all the young drivers coming into this sport. He was an inspiration to all and he will never be forgotten so let's take the time to remember a legend that was taken away from us far too soon. We wonder where he would be today if he was still around...would he still be racing? or would he be retired and playing more of the owner role? But i guess it's all left to just wonder. I can't believe it's been 10yrs it seems like just yesterday i was watching it on TV and saw the whole thing happen and was left in shock like everyone all over the world. But all that is in the past and we don't need those people to show the replay of the accident every year we need to just show clips of what he has done in this sport and not always be remembered for the tragedy but for the legacy that he left behind.
